“The unknown, said Faxe's soft voice in the forest, “the unforetold, the unproven, that is what life is based on. Ignorance is the ground of thought. Unproof is the ground of action.”

Ursula Le Guinn, The Left Hand of Darkness

Unforetold is a production made with seven small beings. They are silent beings, sensitive to what has not been foretold. They are very good at asking questions and thereby evoke other realities. They receive answers in unknown languages. They can hide in full view. These beings are to be found in darkness, in a glittering, sparkling, resonating place where they are concealed and safe. Like a world without time.

‘We are in this world and this world is in us,’ they say. ‘It is night-time, but we are not asleep. We grow older but we always remain just as small. We only die when we can’t count any further. We move like animals. And when we move like an animal, we become that animal. And one day your light goes out and you start to forget everything.’

In an atmosphere composed of questions, a new logic is created with the aid of verbal and non-verbal conversations, one that has not yet been entirely disconnected from the magical. Not planned, not strategic, but extraordinary, involved and urgent. In a world currently driven by statements, statistics and votes, Sarah Vanhee creates a place that advocates a new politics on the basis of fiction. In close cooperation with seven children between 8 and 11 years old.
