The starting point of La Reine is the figure Maria de' Medici, one of the most hated queens of France. You enter the world of a queen who has to use elitist codes for the outside world. But what does her world look like behind closed doors? The performance is about transforming, concealing and manipulating. About making choices and about how history keeps repeating itself.

La Reine is the graduation performance of Silke Gerinckx (master performance, KASK). The common thread in her work is theatricality and absurd humour. She makes performances in which voice, movement and her own body are central. She likes to use alienated or abstracted sounds that determine the atmosphere in the work. She often starts from personal strange fascinations that she then works out universally. She likes to look for strange connections and thereby trigger / inspire the audience through a different view.
