The members of Frankie have put themselves in a different outfit. They no longer show themselves as a brash rattle band but, unlike Laguna Beach, take a more sophisticated approach. In a self-assembled laboratory (L.I.A.R.), they search for answers like a bunch of serious scientists.   What happens when Frankie observes the fellow man with a focus on the perfectly normal, the simplicity of things, the naivety and beauty of the banal, but also boredom, dullness, fear, the absurd and the tragicomic?

In the L.I.A.R. research space, they look for results but at the same time they show the process they go through to reach a result. Experimentation and failure are at the heart of L.I.A.R. Using various equipment and instruments, they make their way through this absurd experiment.  They are assisted by a duck and a talking dog: a process that highlights failures and collisions, misunderstandings and discoveries.

Frankie's first show, Laguna Beach (2019), already illustrated their potential as a music band and as theatre artists. What once began as a motorized puppet band grew into its own self-made universe - an atmospheric and imaginative but brutal landscape. On stage, the band, which is the epicentre of the performance, was surrounded by various installations - each in its own specific context -, live animations, motorized objects, and musical instruments.

Like Laguna Beach, L.I.A.R. is a mix of video, music, installation, models and performance. The performers use vintage and old analogue equipment and self-invented systems: a method of working that produces devious and humorous situations.
