The Impact Gatherings are a Ghent particle accelerator for all those who want things to move forward, better and different. For pros and pros, government or private, students and never-graduates. Even before noon you will have a head full of new ways to innovate. By the speakers on stage, but equally by the people in the room.

Discover the exciting world where design, biological sciences, ethics and art come together to drive innovation and redefine our connection with nature. Biodesign & Bioart are catalysts for creativity and transdisciplinary thinking, with different sectors such as fashion and architecture embracing sustainable innovation through the use of biodegradable materials.

In this talk, Marjan De Mey, professor at Ghent University, and Matthijs De Block, artist, researcher at LUCA School of Arts and collaborating with Marjan in the laboratory of the Centre for Synthetic Biology, will take you on an inspiring journey through the world of biodesign & bioart. With their joint experience in bioart projects, Marjan and Matthijs share not only their passion but also their critical reflections on this adventurous journey where artistic and scientific research merge. Together, we explore technical challenges, artistic expression and interdisciplinary collaborations.
