The city lights are blinding

Close the blinds

Board up the windows

Kill the city

Shut it all out

In the solo BOBBY Here for you, directed by Peter Seynaeve, Romy Louise Lauwers paints a picture of the inner world of a contemporary hermit against the horizon of the major challenges of the 21st century. How can I care for myself, when we, as a society, seem incapable or unwilling to care for each other and our world?

After years of artistic kinship, Romy and Peter developed a shared alter ego: Bobby.

Bobby has retreated into an apartment, never goes outside, and observes the world from a window. Bobby takes daily walks on Google Maps. During one of these walks, Bobby senses the end of the world.

Bobby is a visionary.

Bobby is your neighbor but also God.

BOBBY Here for you is a treacherous gem. In the moment, you see a finely crafted, intelligent and subtly played monologue, but the impact only makes itself felt afterwards. There, outside the theatre, the play continues to scratch at heart and mind.

Etcetera – Liv Laveyne ,

Lauwers plays the monologue with a fascinating single-mindedness. Her members remind of springs. [...] When Lauwers pulls her face into an impossible crease, it says a lot about what twisted feelings lie hidden behind Bobby's smooth narration

Pzazz – Wouter Hillaert ,
