STATEMENT by Mon Buysse

To me, art is something I find beautiful.

Someone makes something.

You see something.

You hear something.

For example, a trumpet.

It has a pure sound.

It’s also just fun to play.

In theatre, you can give the best of yourself.

Showing who you are. That is important.

Or showing that you are someone else.

You can do whatever you want.

Do what you think is beautiful.

There is the curve of a pen on a piece of paper.

And you can make that same curve yourself, in dance.

To me, art is actually just everything.

Without art…

Then no one could make things anymore.

Then you can’t do fun things.

Then I wouldn’t have a hobby anymore.

All my hobbies are art.

I do trumpet, dance, and theatre.

Then I wouldn’t know what to do anymore.

I want to be a trumpeter.

But also a dancer.

But also an actor.

I like playing football too, but dancing is more fun.

Footballer is not on my list of things I want to be.

And doing karate isn’t either.

Then you have to go to many matches.

And if you have to perform after that, you’ll have bloody wounds.

That is not good.

Art.

When I do art, I am happy.

Art is a lot.
