There is always a lot moving at CAMPO, and that’s now not different. There are three premieres in the making: Frankie's second show L.I.A.R., a new performance by Sarah Vanhee, Mémé and She was a friend of someone else by Polish newcomer Gosia Wdowik.

Early last week, Frankie landed at CAMPO victoria to work on their new show L.I.A.R., which premieres on 17 March at STUK in Leuven, which is co-producer.

They no longer show themselves as a brash rattle band but take a more sophisticated approach, unlike their first creation Laguna Beach. In a self-assembled laboratory - L.I.A.R. - experimentation and observation are at the heart, and they are assisted by a duck and a talking dog.

Like Laguna Beach, L.I.A.R. will be a mix of video, music, installation, models and performance. On 29, 30 and 31 March, L.I.A.R. will be shown at CAMPO nieuwpoort. The performance will tour from Ostend to Antwerp, from Marseille to Brussels.

Sarah Vanhee is no stranger at CAMPO: she created the performance Turning Turning (a choreography of thoughts), the lecture-performance Lecture For Every One, Oblivion, an extraordinary performance about everything Sarah would have thrown away during a year's work, and Unforetold, a performance made with seven small creatures.

Her new creation Mémé, which has since been tipped in De Morgen, De Standaard and VRT NWS, invokes Sarah's spirit of her two grandmothers and questions their servitude - and thus the undervalued role of now still many women. Mémé promises to be a tragicomic performance with guest appearances by puppets, ghosts and a child.

The show will premiere in May at Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, then travel to Vienna, Montréal, Berlin & Paris, among others, and will be shown at CAMPO on 18 and 19 October.

Polish theatre-maker Gosia Wdowik is a new name to be discovered at CAMPO. She graduated from DAS Theatre in Amsterdam and is currently based in Amsterdam and Warsaw. During her master year at DAS Theatre (2020-2022), she worked around burnout and the space between exhaustion and control. In her recent performance Shame, she explored social diffidence linked to the working class in her own family, across three generations of women.

For She was a friend of someone else, Gosia Wdowik explores the link between burnout and activism: the fear that rights cannot be acquired for life, and the moment one lowers the attention, they risk disappearing. Through a personal narrative, she describes the commitment to women's rights in Poland, a country where abortion is virtually banned.

To make this creation possible, CAMPO enters into a close partnership with Kunstenfestivaldesarts (KFDA) and NOWY TEATR, together with CAMPO the main producer of the show. This performance will also premiere at KFDA in Brussels and will be shown in Ghent on 7 and 8 December. For CAMPO, She was a friend of someone else is the beginning of a longer journey with Gosia, whose next creation, also a CAMPO production, is scheduled for 2025.
