“It’s a bit like Jiskefet meets Lynch meets Tik Tak meets Milo Rau meets Andy Kaufman.” 

In The Short Performance-Exhibition actors and close friends Joeri Happel & Lucas van der Vegt pay tribute to confusing life. Because according to them, life is not a coherent story, but an inextricable tangle of strange details.   

In a colourful revue of short performances, short stories, and fleeting encounters – which will unfold in the New Theatre Temple of the New Plan, a forensic sandbox, a life-size puppet show – you follow their quest on the stage of the Great Themes of Life.  

“But I’m your friend, Joeri.” 

Some of what to expect: in one scene, two old friends, athletic Swedes, reminisce about days long gone; in other acts, Happel & Van der Vegt explore themes such as moralism, beauty, philanthropy, flowers, and the intense focus and competitive nature of contemporary sports culture. The performers, clad in morph suits, are almost invisible as they conjure floral curtains, and the imaginary friend Yari drops in on the people at the Feather Shop. Then again, in the act The Fiasco, literally everything you can imagine goes wrong.
