Jonas Baeke (Ghent, 1999) is an actor and director. He graduated from KASK School of Arts Ghent in 2022 with the performance Pinokkio, created with Jef Hellemans, which was shown at Theater aan Zee, among other venues. Pinokkio also received the acting award from De Acteursgilde. Together with Mats Vandroogenbroeck, Jonas created Bambiraptor at Kopergietery, which was selected for Het Theaterfestival 2022. In May 2024, their new performance Infinity Forever premiered, also selected for Het Theaterfestival. Jonas won the TAZ and Sabam creation grant, which he used to create the family performance Mr. Beam in October 2023, together with Lucas Van Der Vegt. In his performances, he interweaves physical forms of acting, sound and scenography into layered universes. Through theatre, he searches for metaphors for everyday life under capitalist alienation, overwhelming technological acceleration and ecological catastrophe.
Jef Hellemans (1999) graduated in 2022 from KASK drama. In 2017, he performed in Odysseus, een zwerver komt thuis, a production by KVS & NTGent. Since then, he has appeared in productions by DESCHONECOMPANIE, De Nwe Tijd, hetpaleis, DE MAAN, and Miet Warlop. For his performance in Pinokkio (created with Jonas Baeke), he received the Actors Guild’s acting award (-35). He will soon play the lead role in the film adaptation of Tom Lanoye’s Kartonnen Dozen and in Foley Man, a feature film by Frank Van Passel.
