A critical reflection on the dynamics of the arts field

Throughout 2025, Michiel Vandevelde, artistic director of CAMPO, wrote a monthly series of articles for rekto:verso titled Programmers' Practices. In these texts, he reflects on the complex relationship between artists, curators, and arts organizations. Drawing from his own experience as both an artist and a programmer, he explores concepts such as power, care, conservatism, and relevance.

This series is now being published in English ánd in print. For this edition, Vandevelde partially reworked the texts with a fresh perspective. The result is an essential booklet for young artists navigating the arts field, for programmers seeking reflection on their own role, and for spectators curious about the 'apparatus' behind a performance.

The launch of the booklet will be marked by a conversation between artists and curators regarding skewed power dynamics and the possibilities of moving beyond them.

The line-up will be announced a few weeks in advance.
