A performance like an old B-horror movie: grotesque, chilling, gripping, and monstrous.

A motley crew sets up a tent in a remote corner of our reality. Around a smouldering fire, ancient myths are peddled. Illusions triumph over sober reason and tempestuous nature shows its boundlessness. A megalomaniacal monster approaches them. The camping trip degenerates into a splattering bloodbath.

Lobke Leirens and Maxim Storms are intrigued by the attraction that surfaces when humans face fear. How can staged fear divide, but also connect and unite? And what role do monsters have in it? Marshmallow BBQ becomes a hallucinatory comic drama in the grotesque, implausible yet gripping style of an old horror film.

Leirens & Storms explore the absurd in both the comical and the dark. Marshmallow BBQ is their fifth collaboration. Together they previously created Krocht (2014), Another One (2017 - Circuit X and Total Theatre Award), Happy Hour (2019) and Folks & Fools (2022). For the first time in their collaboration, Maxim and Lobke invite three additional performers: Marjan De Schutter, Maliqa Fye and Emma Browaeys. Geert Vanoorlé's lighting design takes on the form of an additional performer.
