The new entrance hall of CAMPO nieuwpoort by visual artist Elen Braga

Visual artist Elen Braga is giving the entrance hall of CAMPO nieuwpoort an entirely new visual identity. Braga creates fascinating textile works: colorful tableaus filled with myths and cultural rituals. She views the gateway of CAMPO nieuwpoort as the entrance to the inside of a body. Expect layers of textile that lead you through the transition from daily life to the experience of the theatre.

"When you enter through the gateway, it is as if you are being swallowed by the theatre. You see the arches of the grandstand, and the theatre hall is only a few meters away from that gate. It is a kind of portal, or a vestibule. In this foyer, I want to enhance the fictional world you are about to experience in the theatre hall. From the street, you don't enter a dull gray space; you step into the body of the theatre!" – Elen Braga

The opening of the renovated entrance hall will take place during the first Neighbourhood Kitchen of the season. Everyone is very welcome to eat together and to enjoy art!

Elen Braga is a visual artist known for creating monumental textile works alongside sculptures, videos, and performances. Her work has been exhibited at leading institutions such as M HKA, Mu.ZEE, CC Strombeek, and the Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, and is also part of the collection of the Flemish Community. 
Over the coming years, Braga will continue to collaborate with CAMPO. She is creating a textile piece for Petrushka, the new dance solo by artistic director Michiel Vandevelde, and in a few seasons, she will also develop a performance of her own at CAMPO.
