A captivating game performance about grief and healing

Plum Road Tea Dream_The Performance is a captivating and unique performance where live gaming and theatre converge. Artist Samuel Baidoo created an autobiographical video game for this piece: a series of virtual spaces that offer an escape from the outside world, while also providing room to reflect on violence in reality. How can a video game help us relate to our daily reality?

Baidoo does this in an unparalleled way. Through their avatar 'S', they offer access to a series of 'sanctuaries': safe havens where players can slow down and get lost. Every evening, Baidoo invites a different guest player to explore the game live on stage. Guided by a host, a conversation unfolds about the various layers the game touches upon within the guest. While Baidoo prepares tea and intervenes from time to time, a performance of profound depth emerges.

Plum Road Tea Dream was nominated for the Nuovo Award at the 2026 Independent Games Festival Awards, an international recognition for experimental and innovative games.

Duration: 80 minutes
Language: In Dutch (without surtitles)
